Arash (Misagh Zareh), a gentle Iranian doctor, has had it. The recent massacre of innocents by the Iranian government, the forced shutdown of his practice, the neverending wait for good news that never comes…it’s all too much He decides to end his life, and spends the day connecting with his brother, two sisters, and mother to prepare them for his departure. They are not in favor of his plan. In this deeply moving film, director Ali Asgari (Terrestrial Verses) explores that place between utter despair and those glimmers of joy and hope that make life worthwhile. A Bit of Light is a quiet film that pulses with life, asking big questions in a small but deeply meaningful and powerful way. ~SM
