Documenting the rise and fight of the disability rights movement in Australia, the UK and USA, this eye-opening film looks at how activists around the world helped to free their people from incarceration in institutions and came to a new understanding of disability by reframing it as a problem of society rather than a problem existing within individuals. Here is what Eric Ford, on the VTIFF Programming Committee, wrote after previewing the film: “The film gets better and better as you watch it. I ended up being totally engaged and learning a history about disabled activism that I knew nothing about. Highlights a truly marginalized group and gives them a voice.”

This event is part of Global Roots Film Festival: Disability.
