In this frothy comedy, June (Ayden Mayeri) and her Persian mother, Lela (Amira Casar), travel to the romantic Azores islands for a grief anniversary. They have markedly contrasting ways of coping: June’s intends to regain her joie de vivre as Lela pines for a deeper investigation into their shared loss. Along comes a sexy philosophical surfer, João (José Condessa), who spices up their journey of life, loss, and flirting. The two begin to reawaken, reconnect, and learn that what they truly need to move forward may be found within the distance between them.
