Made in France tells the story of an undercover journalist who infiltrates a jihadist cell in a Paris suburb, whose mission is to destabilize the city center of Paris. This gripping account of five French citizens who have embraced the call to jihad reminds us that not all Arabs are jihadists, and not all jihadists are Arabs. At the same time, the film seizes on the even more unsettling idea that anyone could be a terrorist — and not just foreigners. They could be your neighbors or even your children. Made in France is one of those rare films that turns a thriller genre into an upfront and personal encounter with five men who could not be more different from each other. This taut thriller was conceived as total fiction and was scheduled to be released in January 2015. Then the Charlie Hebdo shooting occurred. The rescheduled release date, Nov. 18, 2015, turned out to be just days after the mass Paris killings. Once again, the film was pulled by the distributor and not released in France until April of this year. ~OY
