Annual event to benefit the Vermont International Film Festival and to honor a VTIFF Community Champion whose work supports the community through film.
The 2022 honoree is Vermont filmmaker Nora Jacobson.
Nora Jacobson is a film director, film producer, screenwriter, and a film editor.
She has a particular interest in films about place, ethnicity, gender and social justice and believes that the first steps in advancing social change come from provoking meaningful discourse. Nora also dedicated many years to being the lead producer and editor of Freedom & Unity: The Vermont Movie – the first-ever documentary series about Vermont. The six-part film was a collaboration of over four dozen critically acclaimed Vermont filmmakers. She is also a tireless believer in educating youth, giving them opportunities to learn the trade. In this context she also initiated Freedom & Unity TV -an annual youth competition of films about Vermont. Since 2016, Nora has also worked as the Coordinator of VTIFF’s program VAMP (Vermont Archive Movie Project), documenting Vermont films in a comprehensive and ever-evolving online database.
We are honored that Nora has accepted to be the honoree of the 2022 VTIFF Community Champion Award.
