This Danish crime drama comes from Jeanette Nordahl, assistant director on the international television sensation Borgen. After losing her mother in a car crash, 17-year-old Ida (Sandra Guldberg Kampp) is put into the custody of her estranged aunt, played with a mixture of warmth and cunning by Sidse Babett Knudsen (also of Borgen fame). Soon Ida is entangled in the web of extortion and violence that constitutes the family business. Will she break the cycle of crime that is her generational inheritance? Or will blood relations prove stronger than blood spilt? Stylish and provocative, Wildland blends the tautness of a thriller with the emotional valence of a coming-of-age story. ~Travis Weedon
