The latest film from Michel Gondry (Mood Indigo; The Science of Sleep; Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) transforms his cut-and-paste magic realism into reality. Creative and shy artist Microbe can’t make friends at school until he meets Gasoline, an outsider cut from the same cloth. They hatch a plan to build a car and travel across France on an epic road trip to escape the realities of teen life. Microbe & Gasoline represents a different direction for Gondry; it’s much more straightforward, but still with all the charm, earnestness and joy of his best work. Starring Audrey Tautou (Amelie; The Da Vinci Code), Ange Dargent and Théophile Baquet. ~EF
